San Francisco Getaway

A couple weeks ago our family, including our chihuahua’s drove up to San Fransisco taking a scenic route. Leading up to our trip my dad and I built up a daily itinerary. I can handle spontaneous, but I need some general idea of what to do.

The first couple days were super cold, foggy, and raining, the true San Francisco feel! The end our trip the weather was perfect, the sun came out and Cataleya got to enjoy not wearing a coat. Surprisingly the doggies and Cataleya did amazing with the drive! They entertained each other, ate tons of snacks, and had a fair amount of pit stops for potty time.

We brought a couple baby carriers, but its hard to toddler wear when we all were wearing our jackets. Thankfully we brought our umbrella stroller that we got from Joovy. I never really understood why anyone would need one, but its an essential especially for traveling!

The first day we got to check out the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and explored around our hotel near Fisherman’s Wharf. That’s when we realized Cataleya loves seafood, especially clam chowder.

As you see from the video below, my husband and my dad wanted to take the full size suburban down the crooked street. I was in complete disbelief we would make it, but they proved me wrong and shockingly didn’t get stuck!

Alcatraz was a must see for my dad, I at first didn’t really care to see, but glad I went. The day we went was perfect, we were able to sit outside on the boat while it took us to the island. Later that same day we decided to squeeze and check out the Muir Woods and totally forgot my camera!!! It was only maybe 30 minutes north of the city, so not that bad. However, disappointed we couldn’t bring the doggies there.

Our last day we swung by the Painted Ladies and Twin Peaks. The park across the painted ladies was closed off, so it was a bit challenging to get some good shots of all the homes. To end it off was the breathtaking panoramic views of San Francisco at Twin Peaks.

We avoided a trip for a while now, because I feared it with both the chihuahua’s and Cataleya, but now I’m already planning our next trip!

How do you prepare for family trips?
