You all have been so patient with me, I finally took photos of our patio! I know you’ve seen peaks of it in my stories, but I’ve gotten tons of questions on the different pieces that I wanted to link up here.
Having this area done was a BIG priority for me, because I want to be able to come outside and relax a wee bit. Rather it be enjoying the cool summer morning to sip on my coffee, the kids playing at their water table mid-day, or winding down in the evening.
Now here in Santa Clarita the summer’s do get intense and you literally only want to be out in the morning and evening. Despite the intense heat, I really wanted our patio to be comfy and inviting when we do chill outside.
We did chose to go with artificial turf, mainly because we have kids and second not sure how I would even mow such a small area of grass. Then our landscaper suggested placing the planters with plants flanking our metal fences.
When looking for furniture I always go for a natural color cushion. Ekkk I know, but what if they get dirty right? The fabrics are made for the outdoor and as long as you occasionally wipe down, keep up with the outdoor water repellant and invest on patio covers it will prolong the life of the furniture.
Our sidewalk kind of divided our patio into thirds and naturally laid out the orientation to having our seating facing each other. Plus I really wanted a chaise, I love being able to kick back and have my legs up comfortably. We even have a chaise sectional in our living room to.
We had just enough walkway space for the kids to get to their water table that my dad made for them last summer. It’s a huge hit and I just tucked it behind the sectional. Now can’t have a patio without an umbrella right? Because of the compact space we have I found a half umbrella to give me and the kids some cover from that summer sun.
I’ve been going to the nursery quite a few times the past few weeks and Cataleya has started to build up a little fairy section near our two chairs. Look closely at the photograph and you’ll see.
Our patio is at our entry and the last touch it was missing was a door wreath. I’ve only dressed it up during the holidays, but I do see your spring and summers artificial though. So I have a mama friend that is a floral designer and I signed up for her seasonal wreaths for the year. She delivers them locally and they just smell amazing and so far is drying up nicely.
Overall we love, love how our outdoor space turned out and enjoy our time outside!
