First Baby Wrap

When building that baby registry I added a Solly Baby for me and an Ergo for my husband. I didn’t know anything about babywearing, but only seen fellow mom’s use a carrier so why not add one ?. I chose a Solly because of the pretty fabric choices and affordability.

I didn’t use any baby carrier right away, because I was extremely nervous if I even had the technique correct. Yes, there are great video’s out there, but we needed hands on help. I was eager to quickly learn, since we couldn’t utilize the car seat and stroller travel system.

My trusty Birth Center holds many events and one of them was a Babywearing SCV Meeting. So at 6 weeks old we attended one, and brought both of our carriers that still were in a box with tags attached ?.

Erin Demos and a few other leaders lead this meeting as well as the SCV Chapter of Babywearing LA. She was so patient on helping both my husband and I, we left understanding how to put her in and out of our own carriers. Guy’s let me tell you, my husband was a little hesitant of wearing Cataleya, but once he meet Erin’s husband aka The Kilted Babywear, he was sold!

It wasn’t an over night technique to get down, it took a lot of practicing around the house. I still do use my Solly Baby a lot especially for short or long naps. Even at 22lbs and almost 9 months old this wrap is still comfortable for a 1.5 hour nap. When she weighed less it was longer ?.

Recently, I noticed a hole near the center where the tag is. Before I tossed it, I reached out to Solly Baby to see if it was even safe to continue wearing her until I purchased another one.  Let me tell you they have amazing customer service! Not only did they replace my wrap, they were amazing at tracking our order that accidentally got sent to old address. They were so transparent with their communication and kept me in the loop in everything via e-mail, which was best for me.  All in all, the replacement was sent out to my updated address pretty quick for the little hic up.

How did you pick out your first baby carrier and have you ever attended a baby wearing meeting?

  1. I am thinking about a new technique to carry around my little rebel. He is outgrowing our other carrier, so this review is awesome to know! And I especially regard excellent customer service as a wonderful selling point!!!! Thanks ?
