The Perfect Art Piece

A fellow blogger Just Me O’ Maya posted about Pine Cone Painting. After I read her post I immediately thought of art work, that can be made by Cataleya and  I can display in her nursery!

For months I’ve been trying to find a few perfect piece’s. Every store I stepped into or browsed through online didn’t catch my eye. I’ve been looking for something square, on a canvas and obviously it needed to match the decor of her nursery, well color wise ?.

I originally wanted to incorporate the pine cones, but I was pinching for time. At Michaels we picked up a 4-pack of 6×6 canvas with an 1.5″ profile, and a 4-pack of pint size mason jars. Pulled up Pinterest, searched for DIY non-toxic finger painting recipes. Their is a flour base that I’d like to try, but the bit we had left went towards the blueberry pancakes ?. So I went with this one from The Imagination Tree since we had some corn starch already.

We don’t have carpet in the main living spaces and figured it would be easy cleaning anyway, which it was. I laid the canvas’s side by side on the ground in front of Cataleya and placed the paint colors around her. I left her in only a diaper, because I didn’t want the food coloring to stain her cloths. Not sure if it would of, but better safe than sorry.

Overall, we all had so much fun preparing this activity for her and just watching her explore the textures and colors was priceless.
