Zero-Waste Event

This weekend was the perfect weather before the hot summers roll into the valley. To get out of the house we went to a local community event, the Earth Arbor Day.

Whenever we want to attend an event we try to go at the beginning, this way Cataleya is more rested and hope its not too packed. When we pulled into the parking, geez, we were surprised how many people were already there, made us feel like we were late. Luckily we were patience with our parking and got a pretty sweet close spot.

When we parked I was debating if I should bring the stroller or wear her, but then I thought about the grass and crowds, so we opted for baby wearing. I’ve recently been obsessed on wearing her on my back and trying to squeeze in every opportunity to do so. I haven’t mastered how to do in a parking lot, but since Jezriel was with me I just sat her down on the grass, dropped the wrap around her and did my thing.

I then realized I need to find more sun hats to protect her face. What are some cute ones you like?

It’s always nice seeing local moms and girl scout troops, it actually makes these community events feel less intimidating. Now I’m a scanner I like to quickly scope out the whole event and then go back to the booths that interest me. I get it from my dad, maybe his Marine Corp’s urgency has rubbed on me.

I have no green thumb, but Jez does, and this event was passing out free shrubs and trees. There was a little bit of a line, but it was moving pretty fast. Surrounding the fenced area was a Cart Art Event. Like outsider art, trash cans decorated with recycled items, they were pretty impressive. Jezriel really like the Darth Vador, and I liked the white picketed fence.

Another really cool booth was the lady bugs. OMG that was the most I’ve even seen, Cataleya was full of smiles they probably tickled her face. After that she knocked out pretty quick on my back, that was the signal for us to head back home for a family nap.

How do you find out what going on in your community?
